The Blue Tit has started to lay her eggs.

The Black bird  chicks have hatched and the parents are very busy bringing in worms to feed them.

Spring is very much in the air. The birds are very busy looking out for nesting sites and singing for a mate. The Buzzards have already paired up and nest building is on their minds.

The badgers are being very romantic and are seen a lot on the CCTV.

Our snow drops are beautiful at the moment and can be seen along the river walk

 

We have put up new bird feeders by the cottages. They are attracting lovely flocks of Gold Finches.

We have been having fantastic viewing of the otters, both during the day and after dark. Here are some pictures we  took this week.

September Offer

September is my favourite time of year. The weather has improved for walking. There is nothing better then returning to the cottage to enjoy a  roaring log fire.

The Scottish Borders becomes a quiet haven. The wildlife watching is great. The Roe Deer are in their breeding colours of rustic brown, the buzzards are feeding their young with talon to talon feeding. The swallows are all gathering for their migration south.Winter migrants are arriving. Why not take a photographic work shop while you stay at Press Mains with Ron McCombe.

Castle Cottage which sleeps 6 available for 6 nigths 8th to 14th September. Take a short break or stay as long as you like.

This is a brilliant time for bird watching.

August Offers

There is a lot to do around Press Mains in August.

Enjoy Coldingham beach, walk on the endless sandy beaches along the Berwickshire coastline.

The Edinburgh Festival is on, it is very easy to visit using the park and ride systems.

The wildlife is very busy the buzzards are grouping together and you can watch some fantastic aerial displays. Watch the woodpecker from your cottage windows. We have had great sighting of the otters on the pond this week.
